Il ROTREX è un compressore centrifugo azionato a cinghia. Presenta quindi i pregi di un compressore volumetrico (=assenza ritardo di risposta essendo collegato direttamente al motore) e l’efficienza di un tradizionale sistema turbo compresso.

Con 3 modelli di compressori standard andando dal più piccolo compressore al mondo, il C15, fino al modello C38, Rotrex ofre il più compatto ed efficiente compressore per motori fino a 650 hp. Attraverso l’utilizzo del compressore ROTREX è possibile utilizzare un motore, ad esempio, 1,4lt di cilindrata con prestazioni pari ad un 2.0lt ma consumi inferiori Nel segmento delle vetture con potenze sopra i 650 hp, Rotrex offre un concetto di doppio compressore, permettendo un efficiente e comunque compatto sistema di sovralimentazione ad alto potenziale

Il cuore del ROTREX è il rotismo epicicloidale che realizza un rapporto di moltiplicazione pari circa a 10:1. L’innovazione risiede nel fatto che le forze non sono trasmesse attraverso tradizionali ruote dentate bensì sfruttando le forze viscose che si generano tra i rotismi e l’olio in esso contenuto permettendo basse usure ed elevate velocità di rotazione.

The Rotrex patented traction drive uses an elastic annulus with a small pre-span to secure contact between the roller planets and the sun shaft with a reasonable force. The patented "ramp effect" increases efficiency and reliability in the transmission by regulating the torque transfer capability on demand through self-adjusting planet geometry.

To enhance performance, the Rotrex traction drive uses a special traction fluid. These fluids are a new family of synthetic hydrocarbon oils and greases offering a series of unique performance advantages. Developed specially for its use in Rotrex superchargers, the SX100 momentarily increases viscosity under high surface pressure, enhancing the traction drive performance by securing the optimum friction between rolling elements while cooling and protecting the system.
